Meet the Doula

I was born in Minnesota, and moved to South Dakota in 2002. We have lived in Brookings since 2018.

I just began my eighth year homeschooling my two lovely daughters, and we have one precious pup!

I love getting lost in a good book, doing anything crafty, true crime podcasts, and am a diehard Minnesota Wild fan.

I’ve been interested in becoming a doula for as long as I can remember, but wanted to wait until my kids were a bit older before going back to work. I obtained my birth and postpartum doula training from Childbirth Professionals International in 2025. I will be starting a Breastfeeding Specialist Certification through CPI in the very near future, as well as a Bereavement Doula course through Still Birthday.

I also have a passion for helping single mothers and low income families who may not have many resources on their own to help support the birth and postpartum experience they wish to have.

My Why

My path to becoming a doula started with my own experience as a mother. When I gave birth to my second daughter, I did not have any labor (or postpartum) support. To this day, I think about how different my labor could have been if I’d had a doula by my side...someone to encourage me, support me, remind me that I wasn’t alone and that I could do this in the hardest moments.

That experience never left me. And as the years passed, I saw friends and family go through their own struggles. Having difficult births, overwhelming postpartum seasons, and the quiet heartbreak of not feeling recognized, supported, or prepared for the realities of motherhood.

It made me realize women deserve more. We deserve to be seen, honored, and cared for. Not only during pregnancy and birth, but long after. We deserve to feel empowered by what our bodies can do, while also being nurtured through the incredible transition into motherhood.

That’s why I became a doula.

My purpose is to create the kind of support I once needed...compassionate, steady, and deeply personal. Every mother’s journey is unique, but no one should have to walk it alone.

A Doula doesn’t give you strength…they help you discover the warrior that’s been inside all along.
